Garcia lifts Purple Knights soccer
Marco Garcia kept the season alive for the Beloit Memorial High School’s boys soccer team Thursday night.
Garcia’s overtime goal lifted the Purple Knights to a 2-1 win over Racine Horlick in a WIAA Division 1 regional final game.
Beloit (16-7-2) plays at top-seeded Kenosha Tremper next Thursday in a sectional semifinal game.
Horlick took a 1-0 lead in the second half on a Marco Perez goal, but Beloit forced the overtime on Joel Stidde’s goal at 71:20.

-- Badger 4, Stoughton 1—Matric Kotula scored two goals to lead Badger to the regional title.
Badger (22-2-1) trailed 1-0 at half, but tied the game on a Francisco Perez goal in the 43rd minute and took the lead for good on Kotula’s first goal in the 60th minute.
Badger will host Kenosha Bradford, a 3-2 winner over Elkhorn, in a sectional semifinal game next Thursday.

Division 2
Dawson Miller scored two first-half goals, and keeper Odi Ochoa helped make those goals stand up as Whitewater High defeated visiting Delafield St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy, 2-1, in a WIAA Division 2 regional final.
Miller took a through ball from Jon Martinez to put the Whippets ahead at the 22:54 mark. The junior then sent a rebound home off a cross from Michael Messier at the 31:51 mark for a 2-0 halftime lead.
The Whippets (14-5) host Delavan-Darien in a sectional semifinal next Thursday.

Tomas Torres tied the game at 2-2 early in second half, and the Comets (17-4-1) won the shootout thanks to two saves from Evan Mansfield.
Delavan-Darien will play at Whitewater in a sectional final game Thursday. Whitewater defeated the Comets, 1-0, in a regular season game.
