"Play to win"

Rock County is not alone when it comes to the devastating loss of manufacturing jobs.

Platteville and Eau Claire faced similar hardships, according to Bill McCoshen. He's a former state secretary of commerce and a co-owner of the Janesville Jets hockey team. He says when the manufacturers left those two cities, the cities got together with their counties, economic development groups and local colleges to for a coalition. The groups formed an economic development plan to bring new companies in, and that plan eventually succeeded. McCoshen says the same can happen in Janesville.

McCoshen addressed a group of business leaders Thursday in the Rock Regional Business and Marketing Expo.
