Milton police and school officials are warning of a possible child abduction attempt near Northside Elementary School.

A fourth grade student reported the attempt Tuesday, saying he was approached Monday afternoon by a stranger in a dark colored van. The driver of the van asked the student if he wanted a ride. When the child said no, the driver continued to try to persuade him to get in the van. The student says when he told the man he was going to the home of a relative, the man said, "I can get you there quicker".

The child says he continued to tell the driver he did not want a ride and the driver made a u-turn with the van and drove north on Northside Drive.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the City of Milton Police Department at 868-6910.
