WCLO's Steve Benton reports on how Beloit College is doing as the fall semester gets underway

RSS

— Beloit College President, Scott Bierman, is happy with the start of the fall semester and with how the staff is handling the economic downturn.

Bierman was hired after the economy soured last fall and after cuts were made in the staff to accommodate the changes.

He says despite a prediction of enrollment dropping to 1,200 made last spring, the number is closer to 1,322 at last count.

He says the new Science Center on campus is a jewel and the current project, in downtown Beloit, to turn the former Beloit Public Library into the Hendrix Art Center, will help connect the college with the city.

Bierman's official inauguration is scheduled for September 25th.
