— A man shot and killed himself Sunday morning after being pulled over for speeding in the city of Delavan, police chiefs from the city and town of Delavan said.

A city police officer signaled the driver to pull over on Highway 11 eastbound in the city, Police Chief Tim O'Neill said. During the traffic stop, the driver fled the scene and drove about a quarter-mile before pulling over on Highway 11 in the township, town of Delavan Police Chief Phil Smith said.

City police pursued the car, but the driver quickly pulled over and shot himself, O'Neill said.

Town officers were dispatched to the scene at 2:26 a.m., Smith said. The man was transported to Lakeland Medical Center, Elkhorn, where he died. Police are investigating the incident.

I heard on the radio that this person was 18 years old. What began as a routine traffic stop has now become a life changing time for many, many people? Why does this happen so often in Walworth County?

I remember a case in another county where a Deputy issued a speeding ticket. About two minutes after the stop, the guy crashed killing himself and his passenger. You just don't know what people are thinking.

that is tragic indeed. that time of day i wonder if there was something else clouding his mind and if it would have been more than just a speeding ticket stop??

How tragic that a minor traffic stop could seem to lead to this.
