Whitewater newspaper office closes
WHITEWATER Readers of the Whitewater Register should not notice a change in delivery or news coverage despite the closing of the office in downtown Whitewater, according to publisher Southern Lakes Newspapers.
“We’re trying to make as little impact as possible on customers and readers with the closing of that office,” said Ed Nadolski, editor in chief of the publishing company, which produces 21 papers in southeastern Wisconsin.
The Whitewater Register office at 162 W. Main St. is closed. But the paper still is maintaining a presence in the community, he said. An advertising sales executive twice a week will staff an office in the GMA Printing building at 136 W. Main St.
“We’ll still have someone at local events and meeting, sometimes staff members, sometimes freelancers, but it should be business as usual as far as news in Whitewater,” Nadolski said.
Newspaper officials declined to say why Southern Lakes chose to close the Whitewater Register office. They also declined to say if the closing affected any jobs at the Register.
