Milton man hospitalized after ATV crash
JOHNSTOWN TOWNSHIP Speed and alcohol contributed to an all-terrain vehicle crash that injured a 49-year-old Milton man Thursday night.
James P. Porter was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and unreasonable and imprudent speed, according to a press release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened at 9:46 p.m. on North County M, 1/10 of a mile north of North Emerald Grove Road and 3 miles southeast of Milton. East and westbound traffic on County M was closed and diverted for one hour after deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and crews from the Milton and Janesville fire departments arrived on scene, the release said.
Porter was driving his 2000 Polaris 500 Sportsman ATV north on M when he drove off the east shoulder of the road, lost control of the vehicle and was ejected. Porter was not wearing a helmet and transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment of his upper torso injuries.
