WCLO's Steve Benton reports on a Beloit police investigation into injuries inflicted on a 23 month old girl
BELOIT A 10 year old Beloit girl is being held in secure custody, at an undisclosed location, after being referred to juvenile authorities by Beloit police.
The suspect admitted to police, Tuesday afternoon, she is responsible for severe injuries to a 23 month old Beloit girl she had been babysitting over the last several weeks.
Police initially got involved after Beloit Memorial Hospital officials contacted them in connection with injuries to the nearly 2 year old girl. Doctors were told the toddler had fallen out of a crib, but the injuries were not consistent with that type of accident. The little girl was then transferred to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee where doctors determined she had suffered severe brain injuries and other external injuries.
Beloit police Capt. Bill Tyler says they discussed the investigation with the Rock County District Attorneys office before moving ahead with the juvenile referral.
Tyler says the victim is expected to survive, but will likely undergo a lengthy recovery process. The investigation is still active and Tyler says other arrests are possible.

What parent of a 10 year old allows their child to be in a situation such as that? The 2 year old's parents aren't the only ones who had poor judgement.

I hope parental neglect is one of those pending charges, because who in their right mind allows a ten year old child to babysit a two year old? Some parents should NOT have children! I honestly pray these kids get put into loving home where they are properly cared for.
