Janesville defeated Middleton twice Saturday to win the Babe Ruth League 13-year-old district championship at Middleton High School.

The local team had to defeat the host team twice after losing, 7-5, to Middleton on Friday.

Jake Wyss hit a two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to deliver the 4-3 second-game win. Middleton took a

3-1 lead with a three-run second inning, but the local team scored once in the fifth, and took the lead on Wyss' single.

Jarod Hoffarth earned the win, after relieving starter Nick Blomgren in the fifth inning.

Janesville breezed past Middleton, 13-0, in the first game played Saturday. The game was halted after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Blomgren pitched the first three innings to earn the win. He also had four RBIs, going 3-for-4 with two doubles.

Alex Faust also had two doubles, while Kevin Brandt went 3-for-3 with three RBIs to lead Janesville's 17-hit attack.

Janesville begins state tournament play Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Sauk Prairie.
