— The Milton Junction Pub Raptors are on a roll.

Francisco Roque hit a two-run homer in the first, and Joe Shere allowed only four hits as the Raptors blanked Johnson Creek, 2-0, in a rain-shortened Rock River League game. The game was called after 4½ innings due to heavy rains.

Milton won its third straight game and improved to 4-4 on the season.

“We’re playing pretty good ball right now,” Milton manager Doug Welch said. “The bats are starting to come around, and our pitching and defense have been solid all season.

“Hopefully, we can continue to play well as we head into the second half of the (league) schedule.”

Matt Fredricks had two hits for the Raptors, including a leadoff single in the bottom of the first. Fredricks scored on a home run by Roque, who is an ex-Beloit Snapper player.

Shere struck out five and walked one in picking up the win.

Milton plays at Madison Laurel Tavern on Saturday before hosting Lebanon Sunday.
