The newest official candidate for the 44th Assembly District race doesn't appear intimidated by the potential high cost of a campaign against a Democratic incumbent who also happens to be the Assembly Speaker. Republican Bill Truman calls it a local race. He says he doesn't think it'll be necessary to spend a lot of money, and his supporters don't want him to.
Truman says his experience on the Janesville City Council would benefit him in Madison.
The former LSI employee recently joined the Republican party, after being an independent in the past. Truman is the fourth Republican to register as a declared candidate with the State Elections Board.
