— The Blackhawk Technical College Board will hold a special meeting Wednesday to discuss membership of a presidential search committee. The board will later approve the committee's membership.

The committee will narrow the field of candidates vying to become BTC's new president. Longtime President Eric Larson retires in June.

The board meeting is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Administrative Center on the central campus, 6004 Prairie Road, Janesville.

The board may decide to close the meeting to the public to discuss "the financial, medical, social or personal histories or disciplinary data of certain proposed candidates for appointment" to the committee, according to the agenda.

The search committee will be charged with narrowing a list of applicants to a minimum of four and maximum of six candidates. Those finalists will then be interviewed by the BTC Board.

The committee is scheduled to meet March 30, April 12 and May 10. Time and place of the meetings have not been set.

Approval of the search committee's members is scheduled for the board's regular meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The regular meeting agenda also includes:

-- Awarding of contracts for a heating/cooling/ventilation project.

-- Acceptance of the resignation of Richard Dannemiller, manager of training and consulting services, effective July 16.

-- Review of the district's annual affirmative action report.
