EDGERTON What is the most dynamic duo of all time?
Batman and Robin?
Bert and Ernie?
Mac and cheese?
For folks in Edgerton, the answer is easy.
Greg and Mona Reierson.
The Reiersons are fixtures in Edgerton. They are involved in everything from the Tider Baseball Club to Edgerton High School concessions to the Edgerton Hall of Fame.
Although they prefer to stay behind-the-scenes, if you're from Edgerton, you know all about the Reiersons and the impact they have had on the community.
"Not too long ago, an anonymous donor made a $1,500 contribution on behalf of the Reiersons toward a new batting cage at the high school," said Mark Gregory, Edgerton youth baseball president. "And that donor could've been anyone walking the streets in Edgerton. That's how well-respected those two are.
"They stay in the background, but remain an integral part of so many things going on in Edgerton. They're very true to whatever they're involved in."
Greg is president of the Tider Baseball Club, while Mona serves as secretary/treasurer. The couple were instrumental in building an outdoor concession stand and continue to organize a number of fundraisers for the program.
"They're the heart and soul of our baseball program," said Mike Gregory, Edgerton High head coach.
"They've been with me since 1992 and have a true passion for everything they do. Because of their efforts, a lot of things were made possible."
The Reiersons started a scholarship program 13 years ago for which any senior on the baseball team was eligible. A $500 scholarship has been awarded every year since thanks to annual golf outings, chicken dinners, pig roasts and other fundraising organized by the couple.
"We do what we do because it's our way of giving back, especially to Mike (Gregory)," Greg said. "He had such a positive influence on our son (Adam).
"And that's why for me, the proudest moment I've had through all of this is when Mona went to the stage that first year of the scholarship and presented a $500 check to a graduating baseball player."
Many volunteers for extracurricular activities hang it up when their kids finish school. Not the Reiersons. They are even more active today than when their youngest child, Adam, graduated in 1993.
It doesn't end with the school year. Summers are devoted to Edgerton's youth baseball program.
"You can't speak of one without the other," former Edgerton School Board member Jim Raymond said of the Reiersons. "There are people you meet in your life that are lifelong contributors, and that's what those two are.
"They truly are a dynamic duo."

Great people that deserve this recognition! The entire family has been assisting Edgerton's sports programs for as long as I can remember. Thank you for all you do.
