WCLO's Steve Benton reports a small businessman from Cross Plains is taking on Jon Erpenbach for the 27th district Senate seat

RSS

— A Dane County small business owner wants to serve constituents in the 27th Senate District.

Kurt Schlicht runs a tavern in Cross Plains and was just elected to a second two year term on the Dane County Board. He says while incumbent, Jon Erpenbach has been in the senate, the state budget has gone up 50% ($24 billion) and property taxes have gone up more than 60%.

Schlicht says he has some name recognition from working in local and county government and will continue his role as county supervisor for the next two years if he is elected to the State Senate.

The 27th District contains portion of Dane, Rock, and Layfayette Counties and all of Green County.
