Thousands of dollars in lingerie stolen from Victoria’s Secret

— Victoria’s Secret might have its panties in a bunch after more than $13,500 in lingerie was stolen from its Janesville Mall store.

A thief stole bras and panties from the “Very Sexy” and “Sexy Little Things” collections Aug. 20, according to Janesville Police Department reports.

A store manager reported that she went to the front of the store and saw a large number of bras and panties missing from a display, according to reports. Several drawers stuffed with lingerie also were empty.

The store manager told police she was away from the front of the store between 7:30 and 8 p.m., reports state. The thief likely stole the merchandise and exited toward the mall.

The underwear had electronic sensors to set off the alarm if they were stolen, but the alarm didn’t sound, according to reports. The sensors were not found in the store.

No security video was available, the reports state, and officials have no suspects.

Victoria’s Secret has been the victim of other thefts recently.

The store reported a theft May 12 when 75 pairs of panties were stolen, according to police reports.

A theft also occurred June 5 when 76 black, nude and white bras were stolen, reports state.

As to wondering who might buy used panties...Take a look at Japan, they seem to be involved in most of the wierd stuff on the internet.

Holy crap- search Craigs under
Victoria Secret- same phone for most of the listings!! Panties, bras, sweats, nighties etc.
Who really has 20 panties "left over" Ah she also "outgrew" the stuff. Looks like taking stuff for a while if you ask me unless more than just panties were taken that day!!

lierre- there isn't a law against taking back underwear. If it doesn't fit are you saying you are stuck with it???

Boston takes back underwear. They CANNOT resell it though. Is this what you mean they are reselling the used underwear?

I guess even if the police did try to do anything they legally cant do anything since there is no "proof" its actually stolen, even though its obvious they would still win in court. looks like these thiefs got away scott free on this one..

ReAlItY BiTeS - Good comment, but do you think the Janesville police will follow up on it? They should hire you to help them with this case. My neighbor had a loud party on his driveway recently - illegal fireworks flying in the air and LOUD music with a heavy base around 11pm. Several of the neighbors called and we cannot get anyone to stop it. So I don't think they can handle an undies crime.

Not saying that I would buy used underwear, but did anyone see the dateline episode where they went undercover to places such as V.S. and bought and returned underwear? Even going so far as to remove any liners and still have the stores take them back. Yuck.

You can go to whitepages.com and do a reverse number look up and that number is a Janesville number. You can also pay $1.99 to have the person's name texted to you the site says.

It is pretty obvious these are the same people who stole the stuff and if authorities dont see this or look into it then i guess they got away with this!! these people are stupid and dont care about getting caught since they are selling them on a very busy and popular LOCAL site. I really hope they get caught!!!

SBTBHBBB- I also just checked Craigslist and if you go to Janesville then search clothes etc.. and type in "panties" there are 4 listings of someone trying to sell the panties with in the past week or so.. They think they are being slick by putting different different locations for each listing. Now if the police were SMART you think they would look into that a little further? i mean come on its quite obvious its the same person who stole the stuff!! Unbelievble!!!!!!

Later once realized they found out the same credit line was used on the employee purchase, without the customer! They got some dumb ones in there.

I worked at Indian Weavings and on week nights you were there alone. One night while I was helping someone with jewelry and at the same time ringing up a customers items, a young kid shoved a bunch of incense and candles into his coat and left. I didnt see it happen, but another customer came up and told me as the kid was leaving. I called security right away. After 20 min they finally showed up asking me what happened and what he looked like, then proceeded to tell me there was nothing they could do because I didnt see it happen with my own eyes. Well of course not, by then the kid probly had already left the mall!!
But our owner liked to take shoplifters into his own hands. One day he seen a kid shove a shirt in his bag and walk out the door. He chased him down the mall to Sears and brought him back and told him pay for the shirt or we would call the cops!

“Sexy Little Things" collection? Must have been real little to steal that much money worth of them. Were they training bras? No underwires I am sure, that would have poked too much into the robbers body (if they stuffed them down their pants) and if they did that, wouldn't someone notice a really fat person with lumpy skin walking out through the door, into the mall and out to the parking lot? Sounds fishy to me too.

These days most of the things employees are no longer permitted to do are for insurance reasons. Due to the liability, bank tellers and convenience store clerks are not permitted to attempt to stop a robbery. I would imagine that is the same reason retail clerks are not allowed to confront shoplifters. The idea is that if you get the robber out of the building as quickly as possible with no one getting hurt that will ultimately cost the company less than if an employee is injured trying to resist. It is for the safety of the employee and customers, but it is also so the company can cover its own behind (no surprise there). Sounds like the thief in this case is also concerned with covering her behind.

The store manager was away from the front of the store for 1/2 hour. I assume the front of the store means the entrance. So were supposed to believe that someone stole a bunch of over priced undergarments by the doorway to the store, no surviellance, no mall walkers noticed anything, and no alarms went off. Does insurance cover stolen merchandise, because it sure sounds like a fradulant claim. Now if it were $13,500 worth of thongs, that would require a very small bag to get the goods out, but who needs that much butt floss?

Ok, at an estimate of $50 per bra, that would be 270 bras taken out of the store. How could someone not be seen with almost 300 bras? What are they going to do with them? Who would buy undergarments from craigslist or ebay?

Three thefts in 4 months, no security camera video and an unreliable alarm system? One would think that after the first incident some sort of precaution or prevention would have taken place. Now it just sounds like they're asking for it.
