Williams Bay police investigating ATM theft
WILLIAMS BAY An ATM holding an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from a Williams Bay restaurant last week during an overnight burglary.
Police said sometime after 10:30 p.m. Sept. 21 someone pried open the doors to Lucke’s Cantina along Highway 67. The burglar broke into the safes, stole several chef jackets and somehow left with a 200-pound ATM.
Officer Dan Lauderdale said the department couldn’t disclose how much money was in the ATM or safes. The investigation is ongoing, and police have no suspects.
Lauderdale said it’s the second time in three years someone burglarized Lucke’s Cantina. Police were unable to make an arrest after the first incident.
Police still don’t have details on the ATM, including brand name and serial number. The machines are built to prevent theft and are sometimes stolen in an attempt to open them later.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Williams Bay Police Department at (262) 245-2710.
