HRs help overcome Beloit errors

The Beloit Snappers overcame six errors thanks to homers from Jamaal Hawkins and Lance Ray and five-hit pitching to down visiting Peoria, 4-3, in Midwest League action Thursday.

Hawkins hit a two-run shot in the third, and Ray hit a solo homer with two outs in the eighth that was the game-winner.

Jose Gonzalez picked up the win in relief.

The Snappers continue the series against the Chicago Cubs’ Class A team with a 6:30 p.m. game today.
