Rock County 4-H Fair Board President Bob Arndt says he's getting a lot of positive reaction to this year's exhibition.
Arndt says everyone did a great job, and the crowds seemed to have a good time. Especially popular was expanding the rodeo to two days. He says that's a show that really puts butts in the seats. Mutton Busting also turned out to be a popular spectator sport, but Arndt had wished for more entrants.
As far as attendance, Arndt says the weather appears to have had an impact, with about 74,000 attending this year, compared to about 80,000 last year. The five year running average, including this year, is about 85,000.

Didn't I hear somewhere that the Walworth County Fair is going broke?

Why do you think the gate price is crazy? Isn't it in line with the other area county fairs? It typically does include the grandstand show with your gate price. THe rodeo being the exception this year. I would think you would complain more about the ride prices. Anything in the carnival area is what burns a whole in your wallet.

Sometimes the Rock County Fair has good entertainment. That's the only time I go when someone I like is performing. Otherwise, I think the Walworth County Fair is better as far as fairs go.

I agree that it could use a bigger space, but what about some better entertainers. There was nothing that grabbed my attention this year to make me even want to go to the fair.

Of course attendance is down. The gate price is crazy. How can a family afford to go to the fair?

The Rock county fair is a joke. It should have been moved to a larger location decades ago. All surrounding county fairs put it to shame :(
