LaborFest turns 21

— The 21st annual LaborFest is just around the corner.

The three-day event will be held at the United Auto Workers Local 95 Hall, 1795 Lafayette St., Janesville, from Saturday, Sept. 3, through Monday, Sept. 5.

The festivities will kick off Saturday at noon with a teen mud volleyball tournament and games and rock climbing for kids. The fest wraps up at 9 p.m. Monday.

Admission is free all weekend.

The Labor Day parade will kick off at 1 p.m. Monday and run through downtown Janesville.

Other entertainment highlights include an Elvis tribute artist Sunday afternoon, musical acts every night on the main stage, a live reptile exhibit for the kids and mud volleyball tournaments on Saturday and Sunday.

This year's raffle features a grand prize of a five-day and four-night stay at the Mount Olympus Hotel in Wisconsin Dells. Other prizes include a laptop computer, $500 cash and power tools valued at $500.

The drawing will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5. Raffle tickets can be purchased throughout the weekend and in advance at the UAW Local 95 Hall, 1795 Lafayette St., Janesville, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5.

LABORFEST SCHEDULE

Events for the annual LaborFest celebration Labor Day weekend at 1795 Lafayette St., Janesville, include:

Saturday

-- Noon-6 p.m.: Teen mud volleyball games, DJ, rock climbing and other games.

-- 1-5 p.m.: Roger Crary playing in the beer garden

-- 7-11 p.m.: The Jamie Campbell Band on the main stage

Sunday

-- Beginning 8 a.m. and running all day: Co-ed mud volleyball

-- 8-10 a.m.: Breakfast

-- 10 a.m.- 6 p.m.: Kids games, rock climbing and clowns.

-- 11 a.m.-3 p.m.: Raptor education and live birds

-- 2-3 p.m.: Live reptile exhibit

-- 2-4 p.m.: Fire engine display

-- 3 p.m.: Karate America demonstration

-- 1-5 p.m.: Shawn Sharp playing in the beer garden

-- 7-11 p.m.: The New Classics on the main stage

Monday

-- 10 a.m.: Car display

-- Noon-3:30 p.m.: Ruff Cutz playing in the beer garden

-- 1 p.m.: Labor Day parade in downtown Janesville

-- 1-6 p.m.: Games and clowns

-- 3 p.m.: Pickett's circus wagon

-- 4-8 p.m.: Honeyshot on the main stage

-- 6 p.m.: Trivia drawing

-- 8 p.m.: Raffle drawing

-- 9 p.m.: Grounds close

Thanks to all involved with LaborFest. While I've never been to the grounds for the 'festival' I love the parade. Love it. Again, thank you!
