JANESVILLE A Milton man accused of holding a friend hostage was not taking several of his medications before the standoff happened, his attorney said Tuesday.
Jordan Sullivan, 25, of 47 Evergreen Drive, Milton, appeared in Rock County Court on Tuesday on charges of taking hostages, first-degree reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He was ordered held in the Rock County Jail on $7,500 cash bond.
Sullivan's attorney, Don Weeden, assistant public defender, said his client's behavior was unusual for him and that he wasn't taking a "myriad of medications." He said Sullivan has seen a counselor since his arrest.
Sullivan is accused of drinking alcohol and holding a friend at gunpoint Sunday at 5042 Greenman St., Milton, causing a three-hour standoff, according to Milton police.
Hostage negotiators talked with Sullivan via telephone, while officers evacuated nearby homes, according to police.
Sullivan fired several gunshots inside the home, but no one was injured, according to police.
Sullivan's friend later wrestled the gun away from Sullivan, ending the standoff, according to police.
Sullivan is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, Jan. 26, for a preliminary hearing.
