Janesville couple arrested after armed robbery

— A Janesville couple is facing charges after an attempted armed robbery and an armed robbery Sunday night.

Janesville police responded to an attempted armed robbery at the Milton Avenue Mobile Station at 1215 Milton Avenue at 9:00 p.m.

The clerk told them a male subject armed with a folded pocket knife came into the store and demanded money. The clerk refused to cooperate and the subject fled on foot.

Someone matching the suspect’s identity was then reported as the subject who robbed the Newville Comfort Inn around 11:16 Sunday night. The suspect fled the scene in a minivan but was followed by a Janesville police officer and the suspect and a passenger were taken into custody when they pulled into a parking lot at 2020 E. Racine St., Janesville.

Michael Watrous, 26, Janesville was arrested for armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and probation violation. His wife Cassandra Watrous, 26, was arrested for party to armed robbery.
