WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on increased numbers of homes near foreclosure due to tax delinquency

RSS

Rock County Treasurer Vicki Brown says she has never seen so many tax delinquencies, as the deadline looms for those behind on taxes dating back to 2007.

Brown says 74 parcels, more than 40 of them homes, could be foreclosed on if the 2007 taxes aren't paid by August 5th. She says the mortgage companies have the right to pay the taxes, but fewer and fewer are taking the opportunity.

As the effects of the recession wear on, Brown says the numbers for 2008 aren't looking any better, with three times the norm currently in delinquency.
