Janesville-Beloit area unemployment rate increases
Unemployment numbers rise in Rock County. Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development unemployment figures released this week show all 12 of the state's metro areas experienced increases in their unemployment rate from May to June.
The Janesville metro area unemployment rate is the highest at 10.1%, up from 9.4% the month before. The DWD is quick to point out the Janesville area showed a 1.1% drop in unemployment over the last year, which is also the biggest in the state.
The report plays up the number of new jobs, particularly in communities like Wausau and Appleton. It also specifies unemployment rates are not seasonally adjusted, and are expected to grow in the summer as students finish out the academic year, and enter the job market.
