— For the first time in its 10-year history the Southern Wisconsin AirFEST will feature a musical performance.

County music singer Aaron Tippin will appear Saturday, Sept. 10, as part of his “Red White and Loud” tour. The show features hits such as, “Where The Stars And Stripes And The Eagle Fly,” “I Wouldn’t Have It Any Other Way” and “Kiss This.”

AirFest Executive Director Tom Morgan said there is much excitement about Tippin’s appearance.

“He is a pilot and a performer,” Morgan said. “He is very patriotic and likes the family friendly venues at air shows, so we thought he was a natural fit.”

Morgan said AirFEST has been kicking around the idea of a musical show for a few years and decided to do it now because of the event’s 10-year anniversary.

Tippin will take the stage around 4 p.m., after the air show is completed for the day, Morgan said. Gates will open at 9 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10-11. Opening ceremonies are set for 11:30 a.m. with the air show beginning at noon.

Originally scheduled for the end of July, AirFEST was rescheduled for September after the Brazilian Air Force’s Smoke Squadron backed out of the event. Morgan said the show also wanted to avoid competition with the Rock County 4-H Fair and the EAA’s AirVenture in Oshkosh.
