Janesville Craig High School’s girls soccer season ended Saturday in a 2-1 overtime loss to Racine Case in a WIAA Division 1 regional final at Tremper.

“I told the girls you want your best game to be your last, and we played very well,” Craig coach Bill McCabe said.

Case, the No. 4 seed, struck first on a goal by Samantha Yasatan 1:50 into the first half.

The No. 5-seeded Cougars tied it at 31:41 on an unassisted goal by Chelsea Sheedy.

After a scoreless second half, Case converted the winner at 86:54 when Yasatan again found the net. Both of Case’s goals were assisted by Tina Fliess.

“They got a breakaway over the top, and the game was over,” said McCabe, whose team finished 11-12.

Goalkeeper Amanda Hamilton had 13 saves for the Cougars.

McCabe said it was Craig’s fourth overtime game this season, and the Cougars went 1-3 in those games.

“I just want to recognize the senior class,” he said. “I feel bad for the (seven) seniors, but we had a good year.”
