West defeats East in Midwest League All-Star game

DAVENPORT, IA — The West Division pounded out 12 hits en route to an 8-3 victory over the East Division in the Midwest League All-Star Baseball game here Tuesday.

Beloit Snappers first baseman Michael Gonzales had a hit in two at-bats, but outfielder Daniel Ortiz went hitless in five at-bats for the West stars.

The East stars tagged Snappers pitcher Adrian Salcedo for two runs—one earned—on two hits and hit one batter in two-thirds of an inning.

Designated hitter Chris Dennis of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Milwaukee Brewers affiliate, hit a solo home run for the West and third baseman Nino Leyja added a two-run homer.

The West built a 4-0 lead with a three-run rally in the sixth inning. The West added four runs in the eighth for an 8-2 lead.

The Midwest League resumes regular season this Friday.
