— Three incumbents and one challenger are vying for three seats on the Albany School Board.

Incumbents Jason Lindgren, Rebecca Mather and Wayne Mueller are facing challenger Karen Henry.

Jason D. Lindgren (I)

Age: 37

Address: N6609 English Settlement Road, Albany.

Job: Corporate manager, IT Application Systems, Sub-Zero Inc.

Education: University of Northern Iowa, bachelor’s degree.

Community service: Volunteered for Fluid Power Society Project, providing educational sessions to elementary students.

Elected posts: Albany School Board member, 2010-present.

Major campaign issues: Cultivate a long-term vision and strategic plan for excellence, improve communication between the board and the community and ensure the board is effective and efficient with money available to attract and retain excellent teachers.

Rebecca S. Mather (I)

Age: 46

Address: W1040 Brooklyn Albany Road, Albany.

Job: Associate outreach specialist for University of Wisconsin School of Human Ecology, director of youth ministries for Bethany United Methodist Church.

Education: UW-Madison, bachelor’s degree in German; UW-Madison, master’s degree in human development and family studies.

Community service: Parents Plus, board of directors, member.

Elected posts: Albany School Board, 2005-present.

Major campaign issues: Ensure students are taught 21st century skills; collaborate with teachers, administration and school staff; bring excellence, creativity and innovation into the classroom; and use state and community resources wisely and effectively.

Wayne A. Mueller (I)

Age: 41

Address: W677 Horan Road, Brooklyn.

Job: Director of operations for Dahlen Systems

Education: UW-Platteville, bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

Community service: Cub Scouts, Albany Youth Futures, assistant basketball coach, Parent Teacher Organization.

Elected posts: Albany School Board, 2008-present.

Major campaign issues: The budget is one of the major issues facing schools. Schools need to be innovative to use the resources available. Another challenge is keeping up with technology and its best use in education.

Karen L. Henry

Age: 35

Address: W2685 Zurfluh Road, Albany.

Job: Small business owner

Education: Stratford Career Institute, bookkeeping.

Community service: Wisconsin Families for Hands and Voices, member; Sidelines National Support Network, volunteer.

Elected posts: None

Major campaign issues: Provide students with a quality education, especially children who need special education programs. Also, the district must be fiscally responsible, and tax dollars must make it to the classrooms.
