Janesville School Board expels two middle-schoolers
JANESVILLE The Janesville School Board expelled two middle school students Tuesday.
The two were accused of:
-- Possession of marijuana with intent to deliver on school property. This student is expelled through the end of the 2011-12 school year but could apply for earlier reinstatement starting Sept. 1 after getting an alcohol/drug assessment and complying with treatment recommendations and avoiding further criminal charges.
If reinstated early, the student must submit to random searches, continue with treatment and maintain satisfactory behavior, attendance and schoolwork.
-- Repeated refusal to follow school rules. This student is expelled through the end of the 2011-12 school year but could apply for earlier reinstatement starting Sept. 1 after getting mental-health treatment and taking prescribed medications.
If reinstated early, this student must continue with treatment and medications and maintain satisfactory behavior, attendance and schoolwork.
This brings to 12 the number of students expelled this school year, compared with 23 at this time last year.
