Consolidation expert plans to meet with officials in Rock County

Cities, towns, and villages in Rock County might have more to share with each other when it comes to consolidating services.

Local Government Institute of Wisconsin Executive Director Gary Becker says he's planning to come to Rock County early next year to talk about consolidation of services.

The Institute has conducted a study on the barriers to consolidation of local services. Becker says it can be difficult to convince a community to give up its local services because the residents identify with their local government.

He says tight budgets make it a good time to talk about consolidating services.
