Johnson leads Edgerton over Pecatonica, Whitewater wins

Meggie Johnson registered a double-double to the Edgerton High have a successful girls basketball opener Tuesday.

The 5-foot-11 junior scored 20 points and had about as many rebounds as Edgerton defeated host Pecatonica, 74-45, in a nonconference opener.

Edgerton had its problems in the first half, settling for a 35-30 lead. The Crimson Tide put it together in the second half, outscoring the hosts, 39-15.

Helping Johnson were Whitney Oren with 15 points, Brooke Ferrell with 13 and Kassie Walters with 10.

n Whitewater 68, Delavan-Darien 45—Whitewater had four players score in double figures as the Whippets won their opening game of the season. Sophomore Brooke Trewyn led the Whippets with 17 points on the night. Kylie Collins led the Comets with 14 points.
