— UW-Rock County emerged from a first-half shootout with a 5-4 victory Wednesday over visiting UW-Sheboygan in Wisconsin Collegiate Conference soccer.

Jim Mani posted a hat trick in the first half to help Sheboygan a 4-3 first-half lead. Isaac Mendoza, Grant Jahns and Carlos Lemus scored for the Rattlers.

“Our defense was a little bit unorganized,” UW-Rock coach Grant McNall said. “We didn’t clear out and Mani is a good player and we gave him opportunities.’’

Rock County pulled it together to blank Sheboygan in the second half. Jonn Martinez scored the tying goal at 47 minutes and Jahns scored the winner at 75 minutes.

The Rattlers (2-0, 4-0) travel Saturday to UW-Fox Valley.
