Beloit voters could soon be facing a decision on a school district referendum. Superintendent Steve McNeal says the retirement of an old debt means the district could borrow more money without affecting taxes. Kyle Geissler reports.

— Voters in Beloit might be asked to prevent a tax decrease so the school district can borrow money to improve facilities. The school district will soon retire its debt for high school improvements, which means the district could borrow about $26 million without affecting taxes.

Superintendent Steve McNeal says some facilities have great needs. The school board is asking McNeal to compile a list of facilities needs in the district.

McNeal says a referendum could be on the ballot in April, but the school board is still early in the discussion.
