Janesville man arrested in downtown stabbing
A Janesville police detective Wednesday arrested Javin D. Wilson, 24, of 435 S. Jackson St., Janesville, on a charge of felony first-degree reckless injury, according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department.
Police report the arrest stems from a large fight across from the parking ramp at 16 N. Parker Drive at 1:52 a.m. Dec. 30.
When police arrived at the melee, four people had what appeared to be wounds from a knife, police reported.
One man was knocked unconscious in the fight and was hospitalized with lacerations to his head from being pushed into a wall, according to reports.
Police recovered a small folding knife at the scene, according to reports.
State crime lab analysis of DNA evidence collected at the scene shows Wilson is responsible for the stabbing, police reported.
Wilson has been in custody at Rock County Jail on a probation hold since the night of the stabbing, according to reports.
At the time of the fight, police reported they had difficulty identifying who was responsible for the stabbing because no one involved in the fight, including those who were stabbed, reported seeing anyone with a weapon.
The investigation also was hampered by the fact that many of the bystanders and the 15-plus people involved in the fight were intoxicated when they gave statements, police said.
No court date for Wilson has been scheduled.
