Two men arrested on burglary charges
JANESVILLE Janesville police arrested two men early Saturday morning after they allegedly burglarized a Janesville business.
Matthew G. Kompsi, 33, Palmyra, and Thomas R. Zunker, 23, Eagle, were both arrested on charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal damage to property, obstructing an officer and theft, according to a police department news release.
An alert resident called the Rock County Communications 911 Center to report two suspicious individuals entering a gated area outside of Stateline Recycling, 322 S. Crosby Ave.
When officers arrived on scene at 12:42 a.m. Saturday, they surrounded the building.
Police saw two subjects inside through the front-door windows.
The suspects noticed officers outside and attempted to flee through an overhead garage door at the back of the building.
Additional officers were waiting for the suspects and confronted them as they left the building. When the suspects tried to run, they were captured.
Stateline management estimated damage to the building, at the point of entry, at $1,000.
All property removed from the business was recovered by officers at the scene.
Both suspects are being held at the Rock County Jail pending their initial court appearance.
