Warrants issued for 3 men after shooting in Beloit
JANESVILLE Warrants have been issued for three men charged this week in Rock County Court with first-degree intentional homicide after a Beloit man was hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
Warrants were filed Tuesday for Samuel L. Jones, 29, Chicago; Terrell M. Peppers, 31, 2155 Bradley St., Beloit; and Charles A. Steel, 29, of 817 Central Ave., Beloit.
According to the criminal complaint:
The victim, a 22-year-old Beloit man, told police he was sitting in a parked car at outside the Turtle Tap, 1344 E. Grand Ave., Beloit, at 1 a.m. Aug. 4. He saw a car driven by Steel pull into the parking lot. Peppers and Jones got out of the car while carrying guns and walked toward the victim’s car.
The two started shooting, and the victim saw that his arm was bleeding, the victim told police. He tried to drive away. Police collected 17 spent cartridges from the bar parking lot.
The victim was taken to Beloit Memorial Hospital, Beloit, and then to Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford, Ill. His condition was not available Friday night, but a Beloit Police Department news release this week said the man was transported to Rockford with non-life-threatening injuries.
