Parker golfers sweep first Big Eight meet
With Big Eight opponents Madison East and Beloit Memorial fielding incomplete varsity golf teams, Janesville Parker was assured of sweeping it opening girls golf match Wednesday at Monona Golf Course.
The Vikings still impressed Coach Mary Ross by shooting a 176 to go to 2-0 in Big Eight play.
"We met our goals today," Ross said. "They played respectable golf and managed very well. That is what we are working on—managing their games and the short game."
Junior co-captains Taylor Wyss and Micayla Richards led the way. Wyss shot a 40 and Richards had a 42.
"Taylor is really playing well," Ross said. "She playing with finesse and is very confident."
The Vikings will compete in the Milton best-ball tournament today at Oak Ridge.
