Two second-half goals spark Craig soccer
JANESVILLE Craig High defeated visiting Milwaukee Martin Luther, 3-1, Wednesday in nonconference boys soccer for its second straight win to open the season.
Peyton Wunn scored the winning goal with an assist from Ian Reinicke at 28 minutes of the second half on a cross from the far side penalty spot on a side volley to put Craig ahead, 2-1.
"It was a thing of beauty," Craig coach Charlie Friedrich said. (Luther's) goalie had no chance.''
Odean White added Craig's third goal at 78 minutes. Drew Whittaker gave Craig a 1-0 lead with a successful penalty kick at eight minutes of the first half. Luther tied it 1-1 with a goal at 38 minutes.
The Cougars host Racine Horlick at 11 a.m. Saturday.
