— A Genoa City man was listed in good condition Thursday at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, after he fell down a ventilation shaft at a construction site Wednesday in Janesville, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Michael Fredericksen, 37, suffered unknown injuries after falling into a 16-foot deep concrete shaft while workers were trying to cover it, according to a Janesville Fire Department spokesman.

Janesville firefighters and paramedics were called at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to the construction site of the future Rock Haven nursing home, 3418 N. County F, Janesville.

After rescuing Fredericksen, paramedics took him to the hospital.
