— Experience in local health care and a history with Agrace HospiceCare impressed leaders of this nonprofit community-based hospice enough to hire her as its new president and chief executive officer.

Lynne Myers, of Madison, will start today leading the organization of 500 employees and more than 1,000 volunteers from its Fitchburg headquarters at 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway.

Agrace also has an office in Janesville and has provided hospice services to patients throughout South Central Wisconsin since 1978, according to an agency news release.

"Lynne's past local experience and history with Agrace are added benefits to her impressive resume," said Joan Burke, Agrace HospiceCare board chairwoman.

"We are confident this will be a smooth transition and that Lynne will continue to grow access to the high-quality, compassionate care for which Agrace is known,'' she said.

Myers brings nearly two decades of health care expertise to her new position, including 11 years at the senior executive level.

Most recently, she was executive vice president and chief operating officer of Meriter Health Services, Madison.

Before that, she was vice president of corporate strategy and professional services at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney, Md., and director of planning and program development for the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore.

The Agrace HospiceCare board had named Julia Houck as the agency's acting president.

President and CEO Susan Phillips resigned in March.

"Lynne has a strong record of advancing health care organizations in the changing health care climate through sound leadership, management of operations and strategic planning. She was the clear choice for our next CEO," Burke said.

Oh dear, such a shame to see this lovely organization being ruined by morally corrupt board members. This lady was previously on the board. I thought it was terrible enough to fire the previous President when she was still battling a terminal illness, I mean this is a hospice for heaven sakes. AND now they have hired one of those morally corrupt individuals that ushered the previous inspirational woman out the door in the false sham that she had resigned. people are smarter than that. shame shame on you people at the top. If only you behaved with the dignity of those that are doing the "real" work of the organization.
