United Way Blackhawk Region will launch its 2012 fundraising campaign with events Wednesday, Sept. 19.

The United Way of North Rock County and Stateline United Way are merging, but campaign and pacesetter planning already was under way for each before the merger was completed earlier this year.

The Janesville kick-off will take place at Rotary Botanical Gardens, while the Beloit launch is planned at the Eclipse Center.

Father and son David and Daniel Cullen will again co-chair the Janesville-based campaign, while Ted Rehl will lead the Beloit campaign.

United Way annual sponsors BMO Harris Bank, Dean Clinic, Johnson Bank, United Alloy, Mercy Health System and Pelsue Orthodontics are providing the Janesville kick-off breakfast buffet.

United Way sponsors providing the Beloit kick-off breakfast are ABC Supply, Beloit Health System, Blackhawk Bank, Culver's of Beloit, Ecolab, Fairbanks Morse, First American Credit Union, First National Bank, Frito Lay, Metso Paper, Mid States Concrete, Paperchine, Regal and Taylor Co.

After the kick-off breakfasts, volunteers at both locations will participate in the Day of Caring, which matches teams of volunteers from area businesses with projects at local nonprofit organizations.

Among Janesville area Pacesetter Campaign participants that helped jump start this year's campaign were Agrace HospiceCare, Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, Blackhawk Community Credit Union, Boston Store, Catholic Charities, First Community Bank Milton, JP Cullen & Sons, Seneca Foods Cooperation, Universal Recycling Technologies and YWCA Rock County.
