— Edgerton's Central Park could be cleaner, quieter and free of "misbehavior," according to the Edgerton Police Department.

The department, along with the Rock County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit, handed out a dozen citations during a crackdown Tuesday at the park.

The sweep was in response to repeated complaints this summer of littering, disorderly conduct, youth smoking and alcohol and drug use, police reported.

According to an Edgerton police report, the citations include:

-- Three citations for objectionable and indecent language.

-- Four citations for underage possession of tobacco.

-- One citation for criminal damage to property.

-- One citation for theft.

-- One arrest on an outstanding state Department of Corrections warrant.

Edgerton Police Chief Tom Klubertanz said problems have been ongoing at the park and have spanned the last several weeks. Complaints of illegal activity had been coming in during both daytime and night hours, he said, with both youths and adults involved.

"It's just misbehavior. Adults and youths, it didn't matter," Klubertanz said.
