Beloit soccer tops Parker; Craig falls
JANESVILLE A sloppy first half proved too tough to overcome Thursday night for Janesville Parker's boys soccer team.
The Vikings surrendered seven first-half goals en route to a 9-2 Big Eight Conference loss to Beloit Memorial.
Parker (2-7-1, 0-3-1) played even with Beloit in the second half, as each team scored twice, but struggled mightily in the first half.
"That was by far our worst half of the season," Parker coach Andy Holmes said. ""I'm not even sure what happened.
"The second half was much better. We stayed with them and did some nice things, and that was with their starters still in there."
Tyler Weilbrenner and Pedro Arvizo scored for Parker.

-- Sun Prairie 2, Craig 1—Jacob Wilkins scored twice in a 35-second span in the first half, and Sun Prairie made it hold up in a victory over the visiting Cougars.
Wilkins was left unmarked in the middle of the field and he put home goals at the 19:25 and 20:00 marks of the first half to put the Cardinals ahead, 2-0.
"It was two mental lapses right in the midfield," said Craig coach Charles Friedrich. "Sun Prairie is a tough team."
Craig was outshot, 24-1, in the first half, but then outshot Sun Prairie, 9-7, in the second half.
"We have to learn it's an 80-minute game, not a 40-minute second-half game," Friedrich said.
Odean White got the Cougars within 2-1 with a goal off an assist by Ian Reinicke at the 25-minute mark. It was the only shot Craig got off in the first half.
Sun Prairie is 6-1, while the Cougars fell to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in the Big Eight.
Craig plays at Beloit on Tuesday.
