Warhawk women win in New Orleans

— The Big Easy Challenge Tournament proved to be an easy test for UW-Whitewater's women's basketball team.

Kaitlyn Thill scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures as the Warhawks cruised past Millsaps, 83-70 on Sunday, in the title game of the Big Easy Challenge Tournament in New Orleans.

Whitewater (10-3) scored the first nine points of the game and led 36-28 at the half.

Katie Burton added 16 points for Whitewater, while Courtney Kumerow chipped in 15.

The Warhawks return to WIAC play Saturday at UW-River Falls.
