Whitewater Whippet wrestlers defeat Cougars

The regular season ended on a down note for Janesville Craig’s wrestling team Tuesday night.

Whitewater, thanks to eight pins, defeated Craig 51-26 in a nonconference match.

Craig got wins from Airk Furseth, Anthony Skrede, Zack Mulrooney and Alex Meco, but could not overcome the Whippets’ pinfest.

“It’s a disappointing way to go into the (Big Eight) conference meet Saturday,” Craig coach Mark Mullen said. “We didn’t wrestle our best, but hopefully, we can put it behind us and get ready for conference.

“We did have some good individual performances, but you can’t give up that many pins and expect to win.”
