Delavan-Darien nets 2nd victory in a row, Elkhorn wins

The Delavan-Darien High boys basketball team is on a roll.

The Comets won their second game in a row, and second on the season, with a 61-46 victory over visiting Lake Geneva Badger in Southern Lakes Conference play Thursday night.

The Comets (1-9 in the Southern Lakes, 2-14 overall) pulled away in the second half after leading by just one,

26-25, at halftime.

Senior guard Justin Held led the second-half charge by scoring 11 of his 19 points. He got most of those on drives to the basket.

Bryce Hembrook added nine of his 13 points in the second half.

Jacob Growel led Badger (2-7, 4-13) with 13 points.

-- Elkhorn 50, Westosha 46—Drew Bryson hit several key baskets in the second half to lead Elkhorn past host Westosha in Southern Lakes Conference play.

Bryson scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half as the Comets improved to 4-6 in the SLC and 9-8 overall. He hit a two- and a three-pointer at the start of the fourth quarter, and then helped bring the Elks back from a five-point deficit with less than four minutes to play.

Brent Newman added 11 points in the victory.

Jason Castona scored 11 points to lead the Falcons

(4-6, 6-12).
