— The road was kind this week to Janesville Craig’s girls basketball team.

The Cougars hopped on the bus Saturday for the second time this week and came away with a convincing 65-45 victory over Beloit Memorial.

Brooke Negus had 16 points, including four three-point baskets, to lead the Craig (9-6, 8-5) rout. The Cougars were ahead 22-8 after one quarter.

“We came out and set the tone right away and stayed with it,” Craig coach Kerry Storbakken said. “A breakout game like this where we come out and score a lot of points is just what we needed.

“A lot of kids got to play and it capped off a good week for us.”

Junior point guard Kristi Crandall added 12 points for Craig, which led 62-24 after three quarters.

Craig plays at Stoughton in a nonconference game Tuesday night.
