— An alderman with more than a decade of experience and an obscure candidate will advance to the general election for the Delavan District 2 alderman's seat.

Bruce DeWitt, 58, 524 McDowell St., and Christopher Phillips, 306 N. 5th St., won Tuesday's election.

Dewitt listed his priorities as reducing debt, keeping property taxes in check, finding a way to revitalize the Delavan House Hotel and promoting the city's industrial park.

Phillips did not return phone calls or an email inquiry about submitting candidate information.
