— The two candidates emerging from Tuesday's primary in the Beloit Town Board race say they want to restore trust in the board and rebuild a positive image of the town.

Diane M. Greenlee, 64, of 631 E. Holly Road, Beloit, and Dan J. Schreiber, 61, of 701 E. Azalea Terrace, Beloit, move on to the general election in April for the supervisor No. 3 seat.

Each voter chose one candidate from a field of four in the primary.

Incumbent Phil Taber is not seeking re-election.

"It's always great to have all that support, and I'm really looking forward to the next (election)," said Greenlee, who brought in nearly 50 percent of the vote.

Greenlee is a display sales account executive with CSI Media.

She has served 10 years on the police and fire commission in Beloit and enjoyed the public service. Recent events in the township helped spark her to run.

"It just became pretty clear that citizens needed to get more involved, and I hope that I can contribute to the solutions rather than some of the problems," she said.

The Gazette could not reach Schreiber on Tuesday night. He is a retired civil engineer technician for the city of Janesville.

Schreiber previously told The Gazette he wants to restore trust in the board, encourage more residents to get involved and look at reducing health insurance costs.
