Janesville Bluebirds fall on the road

— The Janesville Bluebirds co-op dropped a 5-1 decision Thursday to the Middleton Cardinals in Big Eight Conference boys hockey.

Middleton scored three goals in the third period to seal the victory. Janesville trailed 2-1 going into the third period on Connor Perkins’ power- play goal at 15:35 of the second period.

Middlton gained a 3-1 lead with a goal at 47 seconds of the third period.

“We work hard to come back, and get beat off the face off,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “We gave up goals the beginning and the end of periods when we have to establish ourselves.’’

Janesville (9-6) travels to play Milwaukee Marquette at 7 p.m. Saturday at Ebel Park in Brookfield.
