Work on Rock County’s new nursing home is proceeding on schedule. The new facility is scheduled to open in the fall of 2012.

What it is: Construction of Rock County's new 128-bed nursing home on 26 acres just south of Rock Haven, 3418 N. County F, near the intersection of Highways 14 and 51, Janesville. Interior walls are done and ceiling installation has begun in the basement of the commons building, said Sherry Gunderson, Rock Haven administrator.

Footings and foundations are complete for one of four "neighborhood" buildings where steel beams were scheduled to be installed this week.

Concrete footings and foundations are being poured in another neighborhood where framing will begin in February. Digging has begun for construction of the other two neighborhoods.

As many as 50 workers have been on the job site daily, but with the start of framing more than 100 workers will be on the job daily, she said.

What's the progress: The project is one-quarter done and on target to finish in 12 months. Mild weather helped keep the project on schedule, Gunderson said.

Cost: $31 million

Start date: Groundbreaking Sept. 29, construction Oct. 3.

Completion date target: Sept. 30, 2012.

Move-in date target: Before Thanksgiving and after state inspection, which will take most of October.
